I am originally from Brazil and I now live in the U.S. I grew up going to art classes with my mother, who was an amazing painter and first exposed me to the arts. While I was in preschool, my favorite time of day was when I was allowed to draw and paint – which most of us like, right? Like Picasso said: Every child is an artist! As I got older, this love never faded and eventually I studied art in high school and college.
I use many different mediums for painting such as acrylics and watercolor, and I do also mosaic and murals. But my main medium is acrylics. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process; each idea manifests in its own individual style. For example, these Chickens are acrylic paintings that eventually became illustrations.
In Brazil, the colors are vibrant because of the nature, and the Latin spirit. In Sao Paulo, Brazil, you can see a large, colorful murals pop up from the grey streets every day. I feel very close to this aesthetic. So, my work emphasizes color and simplicity. I also frequently use only female figures: I think it is an expression of myself and all the great stories I have heard from the women around me in Brazil, the U.S. and around the world. Art is power and empowers anyone who is up to exploring it. I also am passionate about any art expression, especially teaching art. One of my jobs today is an instructor at a paint and sip studio. I see every day that art can be so rewarding for myself and others, especially the process of making art. In my spare time, I enjoy creating more and more art of all kinds!
